Recognizing that improved policies are key to systems changes that ultimately benefit children with special health care needs and their families, CHILD Center faculty set as a priority the fostering of leadership and advocacy skills among our trainees, professional colleagues and the families with which we partner. Center faculty and staff participate in community-based coalitions, consult to local, state and national government agencies, sit on agency boards and review panels, publish and otherwise disseminate new approaches to care as well as professional development, particularly within our main areas of interest and expertise: interdisciplinary leadership development; prevention and early intervention; comprehensive (including mental health, oral health, nutrition) care; access to care.
