The USC UCEDD provides training for health professionals with faculty from fifteen disciplines involved in several core pre-service and continuing education programs.
Pre-Professional Training
The LEND (Leadership Education in Developmental Disabilities) program is an interdisciplinary pre-professional training program sponsored by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. There are also two nationally-accredited internship programs at the USC UCEDD – the Dietetic Internship accredited by the American Dietetic Association, and the Psychology Internship accredited by the American Psychological Association. In addition, graduate students from affiliated universities (USC, UCLA, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Long Beach) may complete fieldwork and other professional training at the USC UCEDD in preparation for a career providing services or improving the systems of care for children with disabilities and their families.
Continuing Education
Numerous continuing education events are offered for a variety of disciplines either on-site or in the community. The LEND program provides a series of monthly seminars on topics related to health and educational services for children with special health care needs and their families. Current workshops available ranging from ½ day to multi-day conferences on focused topics are listed under the Community Training Events tab on the Community & Continuing Education page.
