This 5-part parent information sheet series provides essential information on identification, reporting, and prevention of abuse and neglect. The series, developed through an Administration on Developmental Disabilities Project of National Significance, is a companion to Keeping Our Children Safe: A Booklet for Caregivers and Providers of Children with Developmental Disabilities to Reduce Risk of Abuse. Available in English and Spanish, each 2-page sheet presents information in easy-to-digest pieces to enhance accessibility for low literacy readers.

Keeping Our Children Safe: A Booklet for Caregivers and Providers of Children with Developmental Disabilities to Reduce the Risk of Abuse
This booklet, made possible through funding from the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities Program Development Fund in 2000, was designed to to educate caregivers about safeguarding children with developmental disabilities from abuse and neglect. Topics include defining developmental disabilities and what constitutes child abuse; reasons children with disabilities are at special risk; signs of abuse; guidelines on how to talk to children about sexuality and abuse; and procedure for reporting abuse. A reference section provides information about agencies and organizations that can assist parents and providers.
